IWGP Jr. Tag Champion Robbie Eagles Issues Challenge To Motor City Machine Guns

M.C.M.G. receives a challenge.

There were a multitude of WWE talent departures on April 24th, and among those exiting the company were Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin).

New Japan Pro-Wrestling presented its Wrestling Redzone show on 4/25, and Ichiban Sweet Boys (Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita) captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles. In their backstage comments, Eagles said he heard the news about M.C.M.G. and issued a challenge to them.

“But what’s next? Special tag match at the end of this tour. El Desperado, our best friend — joke — not best friend… But Místico’s coming all the way from CMLL to tag with the other masked (guy), and you probably want this, but f*cking earn it lads, and I saw some news earlier today — last thing I’m gonna say — some news earlier today, some people I know in this industry lost their jobs across the pond. So how about this: Ichiban Sweet Boys, third time, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions versus Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Motor City Machine Guns. I know you guys want it. We’re here, ready. So come and get it. Because you guys may have innovated that division, but we are the mighty, and the mighty don’t (kneel).”

Shelley and Sabin are one-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions together. They last wrestled for New Japan in 2023 at the Destruction in Ryogoku show.

M.C.M.G. joined WWE in the fall of 2024. In their second match with the company, they won the WWE Tag Team Championship.
