IWGP United States Title Match Set For NJPW New Beginning USA 2021

A marquee match has been announced for New Japan Pro Wrestling's New Beginning USA 2021.

Jon Moxley became the IWGP United States Champion after defeating now-fellow AEW Superstar Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match at Wrestle Kingdom 14. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, he has only been able to defend the title twice in his over-one-year reign. The last time Moxley was heard from at Wrestle Kingdom 15, he provided a stern warning to anyone looking to challenge him, saying that even though they thought they were safe, he would be coming back.

The aforementioned return happened when Moxley laid out KENTA on the latest edition of NJPW Strong. Moxley then cut a promo, saying that KENTA’s dream of taking his belt just turned into a nightmare.

KENTA has been calling on Moxley to defend his championship and now he is getting his wish. The promotion has announced that the two men will face off on February 26, 2021 at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California.

Here is the official announcement:

Of course, full-time, Jon Moxley is a member of the AEW roster and will face more inter-promotional action on the next episode of Dynamite, as he teams with Rey Fenix and PAC against Kenny Omega, and IMPACT Wrestling's Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson).
