Ospreay managed to vanquish Shingo with a Rainmaker, front hidden blade, and Stormbreaker combo after a hard-fought 40-minute bout.

After the match, Ospreay said it was time for redemption, referencing his upcoming clash with Okada and his loss to "The Rainmaker" at Wrestle Kingdom 15.

Okada was scheduled to wrestle at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku night two, but he was pulled from the card for precautionary reasons.
