There was a singles match at WWE’s 2026 Backlash Premium Live Event between IYO SKY and Asuka. During the bout, the crowd in Tampa, Florida, began chanting for Kairi Sane.

Sane was a part of the build for SKY versus Asuka until she departed WWE in late April 2026.

One of the match highlights saw Asuka and SKY on the commentary table. Asuka tried to mist IYO, but IYO picked up Wade Barrett’s notebook and blocked it.

The backend of the bout saw SKY put Asuka away with the Over the Moonsault. Post-match, SKY bowed to Asuka, and then they embraced one another and put their issues in the past.
