Izzi Dame Explains Why She Cost Tatum Paxley The NXT Women’s Title Instead Of Turning After Tatum Won

At NXT Gold Rush, Izzi Dame turned on Tatum Paxley, costing her the NXT Women’s Title in a match against Jacy Jayne, and kicking her out of The Culling.

At the time, fans wondered why Izzi didn’t help Tatum retain the title, then attack her after the match or later on while Tatum was still the champion.

Speaking to Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio, Izzi explained her reasoning.

“When I originally cost Tatum her title, everyone was freaking out. ‘That was stupid. Why would you not let Tatum win and do it after and go after the title?’ I have a plan. I always have a plan. I’m always in control. I didn’t need that title. Let Jacy go have her little fun. Who knows, maybe I’ll be a double champ. It was all part of a great plan. I’ve had a plan since the beginning. Tatum happened to come along. She could have been part of the plan. She didn’t fit the cut that we needed, so we eliminated her. I didn’t need the title. I didn’t need Tatum,” she said.

Tatum defeated Izzi at NXT New Year’s Evil, but Izzi got the last laugh, winning the NXT Women’s North American Championship from Thea Hail later in the night.
