Izzi Dame: It’s Infuriating To Be Compared To Every Blonde On The Roster

Izzi Dame is just three years into her wrestling career, but she has already managed to stand out in NXT, linking up with The Culling and winning the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

The former volleyball player has stood out in her own way, but has been met with comparisons to other top female superstars due to her hair color.

Speaking to Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio, Izzi was asked about her long-term goals in wrestling when she mentioned the comparisons.

“Let me give you the answer that everyone gives you, I’m happy where I’m at, but obviously the goal is to always move up to bigger and better things. If that’s not your goal, you shouldn’t be here. Your goal should always be to raise the bar for yourself. For me, my goal is to find a true identity in this business as I go through it. Every time I open my phone, I’m constantly being compared to every other blonde on the roster. It’s so infuriating to me because I feel I like I try to be so authentically me out there, and no one is going to be me. No one is going to be as manipulative, as cunning, as calculated as I am. To sit here and compare me to other blondes, just because we’re blonde, is super frustrating for me. Yes, it’s awesome to be compared to them because they’re amazing, great, and talented, but I’m just trying to find my own identity that makes me different,” she said.

Izzi noted that she sees comparisons to Charlotte Flair, Maxxine Dupri, Tiffany Stratton, and Blake Monroe, not because of their talent, but because of their similar looks.

Elsewhere during the interview, Izzi revealed why and how she is banned from Cyprus for ten years. You can find her full comments here.
