Jackie Redmond Discusses Unplanned Interview With Cody Rhodes After John Cena’s Final Match
After Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air, WWE continued their coverage on YouTube. Jackie Redmond had a quick word with Jey Uso before Joe Tessitore urged her to go down to the ring to talk with “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
Just minutes prior, Rhodes and CM Punk handed John Cena their WWE Championships so he could pose with them for one final time. Cena soaked in the moment as an emotional tribute video played before he left his sneakers and armbands in the ring.
Even though the main broadcast stopped rolling, Rhodes wanted to take it all in. In a completely unplanned interview, he poured his heart out addressing what Cena meant to not just him, but this industry in general. The Undisputed WWE Champion was visibly choked up as he took part in an interview Redmond will never forget.
“Hand to god, it really was not planned. Cody was having a moment and was gracious enough to share it with us. Class act,” Redmond said.
Rhodes was the only one still at ringside and Redmond made sure to capitalize on the opportunity. That interview will forever be a moment in time as it joins a list of eventful moments that took place on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
