On December 13th, Cena would complete his retirement tour in a match where he would take on Gunther in singles competition. While Cena would give it everything he had in the bout, Gunther would eventually come away with the victory, forcing Cena to tap out to end his career with a rare form of losing in his career.
While speaking to the RAW Recap in a new interview, Jackie Redmond noted that she wasn’t a fan of Cena tapping out, despite understanding it.
“Like, honestly, it felt sad to me, and I’ll say this too, like, I don’t like that John Cena tapped. Like, I don’t like that. I don’t like it. I understand it. I understand it, but I don’t like it. It doesn’t, it’s like, John Cena, man, but you don’t- John, you’re never give up. You’re hustle, loyalty, respect. Like, this isn’t you. I know there’s more there and I know you could see him, right? You could see him mouthing afterwards. ‘I don’t have anything left. That’s it.’ Which I get it. That’s why you’re retiring. But I know you, I know there’s more there.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Jackie spoke about how her interview with Cody Rhodes at the event was not originally planned. You can read more about that here.
