Jacob Fatu Recalls WWE And AEW Reaching Out After He Signed MLW Contract

Jacob Fatu is the face of Major League Wrestling, but he had a couple of late offers on the table.

Fatu signed with MLW in 2019, making his debut at MLW Superfight. In just a short period of time, Fatu climbed the ranks and captured the MLW World Title at Kings Of Colosseum 2019 when he defeated Tom Lawlor.

Speaking on Armbar Interview, Fatu recalled his WWE tryout and getting calls from AEW and WWE after he signed with MLW.

"I had a tryout with WWE. That's how I met Eddie Kingston. Eddie Kingston, Ruby Riott, Shayna Baszler, Su Yung, Will Hobbs, Royce Isaacs. That was a hell of a class. AEW had tapped in. They came out of nowhere. They came out of nowhere. Jungle Boy actually gave me a call and said, '[AEW] is trying to get in touch with you.' They ended up taking care of him and he was one of the first people that signed, which was doped. William Regal had called the next day and it was too late," he recalled.

Fatu remains MLW World Champion and signed a multi-year extension with the company in July 2020.

Fatu is not scheduled to compete at MLW Kings of Colosseum 2020.

Fightful will provide coverage of MLW Kings of Colosseum beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
