Jake Roberts has some unfortunate news about his old foe.
One of the hottest rivalries in the WWF in 1986 was the matchup that pitted Jake "The Snake" Roberts against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. The two foes competed at various pay-per-views and live events, but are now good friends since they've settled out of their own respective in-ring careers.
When speaking about Steamboat and their infamous concrete DDT spot from an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event in 1986 on his DDP Snake Pit podcast, Roberts revealed that "The Dragon" is currently not doing well in the health world.
"To be honest with you, I know [Ricky] Steamboat is having issues right now. I hope to hell it wasn’t what I did. I really do, because that haunts me. That’s beginning to haunt me a lot. Ricky, if you’re listening -- you know I never meant to do that. I didn’t want to do that, I begged [him] not to do that. I just pray for you man.”
Steamboat recently made his debut for Major League Wrestling as a matchmaker. His last in-ring match was at FCW Father's Day Salute on June 18th, 2010.
Fightful will continue to update fans on Steamboat's condition going forward.
