Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup Recalls Speaking To Michael Hayes, Hayes Saying He Doesn’t Know The Words To Badstreet USA Anymore

Michael Hayes and the Freebirds had one of the most iconic wrestling themes of all time: “Badstreet USA.”

Bowling For Soup had a couple of hit songs in their time, including “Alexa Bliss,” named after the WWE superstar.

Speaking on Ropes N Riffs, Bowling for Soup singer Jaret Reddick recalled FaceTiming with Hayes while on the set of “Alexa Bliss.”

“Another great wrestling stor,y actually, I should say. When I first started talking with Alexa Bliss about wrestling and she was like, “Well you know Michael Hayes from the Freebirds is like high up in the organization. I talk to him all the time.” While she was here doing the video, we were filming in my son’s room, and she was doing hair and makeup in my daughter’s room, she called me in there and she was on FaceTime with Michael Hayes. She handed me the phone and I was like, ‘Man, I could sing you Backstreet Atlanta G.A. right now, dude. The further down the block you went the badder it got.’

“He was just like, ‘Man, I don’t even know the words to that song anymore.’ He was just really nice as I walked away. I heard him say, ‘He’s nice guy, but does he have a bra on his head?’ Sure enough, I did because in the Alexa Bliss video, we’re spoofing Weird Science, and I still had a bra on my head. He was just so, so nice. That was a really cool experience.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Reddick recalled meeting Bliss for the first time. You can find his full comments here.
