Javi Bernal speaks about his influences when it comes to wrestling, including getting to speak with CM Punk.

Prior to being released from his WWE contract earlier this year, Bernal was a part of the WWE NXT roster to which CM Punk would often visit following his 2023 return to WWE, but Punk is not the only influence on Bernal’s in ring career, with other legends being key influences on what made Javi the wrestler he is today.

While speaking to PWMania in a new interview, Javi Bernal was asked about his influences in pro wrestling, with Javi noting that he was influenced by the likes of Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Triple H and Jeff Hardy.

“Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels were my biggest influences. The Attitude Era is my comfort zone. CM Punk is a huge influence for serious promos — straight edge, punk aesthetic, all that resonates with me. I had chances to talk with Punk backstage, and those conversations meant a lot. Triple H, Jeff Hardy — so many influences shaped me.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Javi spoke about what he learned during his time working with WWE as part of the WWE NXT roster. You can read more about that here.
