Jay Discusses OTT's First Rumble: To Be In The Ring For Over An Hour Was Such An Achievement

Jay was not dead at the Loco Rumble.

Over The Top Wrestling presented their first ever rumble match at the Loco Rumble on January 20th from Dublin, Ireland. The match would feature several of the top names in Irish independent wrestling, with the returning Joe Carbray entering the match. In addition, several imports from the UK scene appeared, with some of Ireland's brightest young stars also featuring in the match.

One such young star is The Draw's Jay (Danny Cross), who was the iron man of the match, lasting over 40 minutes in the Rumble after wrestling earlier in the night, culiminating in over an hour spent in the ring at the Loco Rumble event.

While speaking to Corey Brennan of Fightful in a recent interview, Jay discussed the first ever Rumble match for OTT.

"It's been something that fans have been wanting from OTT for a while. I think we've done nearly everything except the Rumble. You see it popping up all over the UK around this time of year, everyone, you know, loves the Rumble. But I don't think anybody does it like OTT. We had some OTT legends return. We had some import legends, you kind of don't see it from indie promotions a lot. To work with Grado was something else."

The former OTT Tag Team Champion continued, noting that wrestling for over an hour was 'such an achievement'.

"I would have come up watching WWE and that was great to me, from Wrestle Talk TV on Bravo at one o'clock in the morning. So as a wrestler it was amazing so hopefully the fans loved it. We're indie wrestlers we do 15-20 minutes max in there, so to be in the ring overall that night for over an hour, it was such an achievement. You have to say, you know, I was there. I was wrestling for an hour. You saw how volatile the match was. Nobody was taking any breaks. Everybody was sweating and a lot of ice bags backstage that night. But it felt like we delivered. Obviously, Leyton Buzzard, only three minutes between me and him. So I think that's something we'll have to settle in the ring. But maybe when he's not jetting off to Japan, he'd be in Ireland for a while."

Jay is currently set to challenge for the Rebel X Championship at RCW Respect My Authority on Febuary 9th as he challenges Fabio and Robbie X in a triple threat match.
