Jay Leno Says He 'Practiced For Something Like Six Weeks' For His Match In WCW

Jay Leno looks back on his appearance in WCW.

At WCW Road Wild in August of 1998, The Tonight Show's host Jay Leno would compete in a tag team match where he would team with Diamond Dallas Page to take on the NWO's Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, a feud that crossed over onto Jay's show, where Bischoff would also have issues with Chris Eubanks - the leader of The Tonight Show's band.

While speaking in a new interview for Undisputed with Justin Barrasso, Leno looked back on the match, remarking that people told him the appearance was beneath someone who hosted The Tonight Show.

"I had people telling me it was beneath the host of The Tonight Show–but I loved it. I practiced for it–practiced for something like six weeks. And every cent we made doing it went to charity. It comes up from time to time. To this day, I still hear, ‘You looked so pissed at Hogan!’ I try to explain that I wasn’t mad, I was part of it. Hogan and Bischoff, they were nice guys. Kevin Eubanks and I, we had so much fun." he said.

Page and Leno would come away with the victory in the Road Wild bout.

While previously discussing Leno's WCW appearance, Booker T stated his belief that WWE utilized celebrities better than WCW. You can read more about that here.
