Jay Lethal Has Considered Ring Of Honor A Threat To WWE Since The "Early Days"

Jay Lethal says WWE roster proves ROH is a threat.

The Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal has wrestled in Ring of Honor for seven years and wrestled there another time when the company was first created. He has seen a lot of ROH Champions move on to other promotions including WWE. In an interview with CBS Local Sports, Lethal said WWE has looked to ROH for their current stars.

"I believe in my heart that Ring of Honor, since it’s early days, has always been and looked like a threat. And the proof is looking at all their (WWE’s) past champions. Every one of them came from Ring of Honor. Look at some of the guys who are on the road, or some of their top guys are guys plucked from Ring of Honor. So if that isn’t proof right there, then I don’t know what is," said Lethal.

Recently, ROH CEO Chris Ripley told an interview that ROH was interested in a particular date in 2019 for Madison Square Garden and not long after that COO Joe Koff announced WWE had contacted MSG and the event was canceled. Lethal said he has not personally heard anything about ROH wanting to visit MSG or WWE interfering. As far as Lethal is concerned, it's a rumor.
