Jay Lethal believes that the Hurt Syndicate is just using Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
For the past several weeks on AEW programming, MJF has been doing what he can to get in Bobby Lashley's and Shelton Benjamin's good graces so he can be added to the Hurt Syndicate alongside them and MVP. On May 14, he finally got the final thumbs-up from Lashley and is now slated to join the group.
Jay Lethal joined his tag team partner, Jeff Jarrett's, podcast for a special review of the May 14 episode of AEW Dynamite. During the discussion, Lethal spoke about the angle and noted that the audience seemed invested in Bobby Lashley's final answer. He also says that he believes MVP, Benjamin, and Lashley are just using Maxwell because of the former AEW World Champion's ability to always get what he wants.
I was very excited about the Hurt Syndicate adding MJF to the group, actually. I think the crowd's reaction was my favorite part. Just the whole, 'Is he going to be up? Is he going to be down?' When he finally gave the thumbs up, I don't think the crowd ever expected it," Lethal said. "From my view, I'm sure it's probably going to lead to the Hurt Syndicate using MJF, because I think they view him as somebody who, no matter what shortcut he takes, he gets what he wants all the time. So, I think they're going to use that. They can use that so much to their advantage."
Elsewhere on the podcast, Jay Lethal spoke about the new pairing of FTR's Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler with Stokely Hathaway. Learn more here.
