JBL Comments On The Avery Styles Situation, Believes There’s Money To Be Made By Turning It Into A Storyline

JBL shares his thoughts on Avery Styles.
Many fans recently learned about Avery Styles when indie wrestler Arik Cannon made some remarks about him. AJ Styles, Lexis King, Nattie, and other wrestlers have since commented on the situation.
On the latest episode of Something to Wrestle With, JBL also commented on this controversy. He said Styles was being a good father by sticking up for Avery.
“First of all, I want to say AJ Styles is being a good father. He’s sticking up for his son and I don’t blame him. I love AJ. I’ve always got the utmost respect for him. I never met his son that I know of unless he was a young kid. … I think AJ’s sticking up for his son and he should.”
Later, JBL says that he has paid his dues in this business. He’s not set up that many rings in his career, but at times, when he was asked to help, he did. JBL says it’s all about communication if the promoters need help from wrestlers with this.
He also agreed with Lexis King’s comment that this matter should’ve been dealt with privately.
“What Pillman’s son (Lexis King) wrote on the internet, I think, is the most valuable piece out there. Don’t do this on the internet. Why in the world are you taking the chance of burying this kid? He’s a teenager getting started in the business and you’re taking the chance of burying this guy this young in his career by putting this out on the internet? If you’ve got a problem, talk to him. If you’ve got a real problem and you know AJ, talk to AJ, do that offline. Don’t do this shit online. That’s just no class whatsoever. Absolutely none. I got a real problem with that. Maybe this guy was mad and lashed out – I’m not taking shots at people, I don’t like doing that – but this was not handled correctly.”
JBL’s co-host Conrad Thompson mentions the possibility of turning this situation into a wrestling storyline. The WWE Hall of Famer liked the idea.
“I think that’d be great. Bring AJ in. They got so much stuff you can do with this. Hell yeah I’d make a storyline out of it. You need interesting stuff out there. Make a storyline out of it. Let him be the heel in this whole thing. Let him make AJ’s kid the babyface in this whole thing. Figure out some way for the old guys to jump at AJ’s kid. Bring in AJ Styles, bring in whatever you can. I think there’s money you can make with this. There’s no sense in just letting this go to waste. You got the wrestling community buzzing with this, so do something with it. Make some money out of it. Have some fun with it.”
In another episode of the podcast, JBL defended Triple H’s comments on Bron Breakker. Fans can read more about it here.
