JBL Recalls How Attending A Super Bowl Led To His Biggest ‘Fine’ In WWE

JBL explains how attending a Super Bowl led to his biggest “fine” in WWE.
The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events of the year. It’s watched by millions of fans in the United States alone. The event always draws celebrities from all over the world, including many wrestlers.
On a recent edition of Something To Wrestle With, WWE Hall of Famer JBL explained how attending a Super Bowl led to him receiving his biggest “fine” in WWE.
“The biggest fine I’ve ever gotten from WWE was because of a Super Bowl in Arizona. I went to the Super Bowl and I’d been to a fight. I don’t know if it was one of Brock’s fights or not. It may have been. I’d been to a UFC fight then I went to the Super Bowl then I was gonna go to TV. The problem was the winds in Arizona canceled all the flights and I couldn’t get to freaking TV. Vince was furious. I believe that was a Super Bowl where Eli Manning threw the touchdown at the end and knocked off the undefeated season with Tom Brady… When I get done, winds cause the airport to be closed. So the only way to get me out was by commercial and it cost $15,000 to get me from Arizona to West Texas. Vince come up to me goes, ‘I’m gonna pay half.’ I said, ‘I’m surprised you’re paying any of it. Thank you.’ Anyway, he thought that I’d been to a party because I was in Vegas on Saturday night at a UFC fight or something, I believe, with Taker. I’m not sure. Then I went down to the Super Bowl and Vince thought I was at a Super Bowl party. He didn’t realize I’d gone to the Super Bowl. He might’ve been a little more generous to me, but he paid for half of it. So it cost me $7,500 in fines because of the Super Bowl to get to Lubbock, Texas.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, he shared his thoughts on a two-night Royal Rumble. Fans can read his full comments here.
