JBL says John Cena may choose a rising star for his final WWE match to give them a career-defining moment.
JBL played a pivotal role in John Cena's rise. He was the man Cena defeated for his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. Twenty years later, Cena is on his historic 17th WWE World Title run, more than any other top star in recorded history.
John Cena is also preparing for his final match in December 2025 and has only 24 dates left as a WWE Superstar. During the most recent Something to Wrestle podcast episode, Bradshaw was asked who John could face in his final match.
While there is no shortage of prominent names for him to go up against, Bradshaw says that, given Cena's love and respect for the business, he wouldn't be surprised to see Cena pick a young star to give the rub to on his way out the door.
"I don't know if it's Cody [Rhodes] or Roman [Reigns], to get Cena's last opponent, you got one of the biggest stars, and to have somebody that's equal to Cena, there aren't just a handful of people in the world that are equal to Cena. If it's Brock [Lesnar], I don't know who it'd be... The Rock's so big that you forgot. It could be The Rock.
"I wouldn't be surprised for Cena to choose somebody that is not in the main event picture right now and do the job, because that's John Cena. John Cena is the most unselfish guy in the freaking world, and he loves this business. He's the most respectful guy I've ever met in my life, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him choose somebody that he knows is going to be a star, give him the rub and go out on his shield."
