JDC Speaks About His Future After The System Turned On Him: “Maybe I’ll Pop Back On TV”
J.D.C. speaks about his old group turning on him.
The 26-year in-ring career of J.D.C. (Fandango) came to an end at TNA Wrestling’s Genesis pay-per-view. His retirement match was against his longtime friend and stablemate in The System, Eddie Edwards.
On the preceding episode of Thursday Night iMPACT, The System (Moose, Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers & J.D.C.) hit the ring to unveil J.D.C.’s replacement in the group. J.D.C. handpicked his replacement, and he selected Bear Bronson.
Edwards would go on to low-blow J.D.C., and Bronson attacked Moose. Later in the segment, Cedric Alexander came to the ring and targeted Moose with a chair, revealing himself as a new member of The System.
In J.D.C.’s first media appearance since the segment, he gave an in-character response to what unfolded. He said the following during a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest:
“I still have scars on my chest from Eddie Edwards jumping me. Him and the Bear (Bronson) kid…” It was mentioned by the host that J.D.C. picked Bronson to replace him in The System, and J.D.C. responded, “Because I had a lot of respect for Bear. I worked Bear up in Maine. I think he’s an unbelievable talent, and then come to find out, him and Brian (Myers) and Eddie planned some bullsh*t backstage and they turned on me.”
J.D.C. brought up that the late Terry Funk claimed he was retired, but something always brought him back to the ring. He stated that he’s not saying The System turning on him is drawing him back in, but if anything were to, it is this.
“Terry Funk retired in ‘83, last match, 2017. You wonder why? Because something always drew him back into the business, and I don’t wanna say this is drawing me back in but I mean, if anything, f*ck.”
He then went on to address his future. First, he stated that he will not be back on television because he’s retired, but then said he may pop back up on TV. He said he does not book the shows, and those decisions are up to Tommy Dreamer and Delirious.
“I am not gonna be on TV. I’m retired, so you’re gonna have to see where — I don’t know. Maybe I’ll pop back on TV…
I don’t book the shows. Tommy Dreamer and Delirious do. It’s so fresh, I don’t really know what to think. I can’t even imagine having one of my best friends just use me as a stepping stone to debut two new talent in a group.”
