Jeff Cobb Officially Renamed JC Mateo In WWE Following WWE SmackDown Appearance

Jeff Cobb has been renamed in WWE.

Despite being called Jeff Cobb by commentary when he made his WWE debut at WWE Backlash, Jeff Cobb has a new name in WWE as of the May 16 episode of WWE SmackDown. During the opening promo, Solo Sikoa referred to him as "JC." Later, a WWE YouTube upload confirmed that his new name is JC Mateo.

WWE filed a trademark for that name on May 10, the night Jeff Cobb debuted.

Also in that segment, JC Mateo was attacked by LA Knight, the man he attacked to help Jacob Fatu retain the WWE United States Championship at WWE Backlash.

Fightful Select had previously reported that Mateo was on his way to WWE. The former IWGP World Tag Team Champion recently finished his duties with NJPW ahead of his WWE debut.
