Jeff Jarrett discusses working for Tony Khan and highlights Tony being a historian of the pro wrestling industry, including with Memphis TV.

Throughout a large part of his career in the pro wrestling industry, Jeff Jarrett has worn a variety of caps, including as being the co-founder of TNA and later founded Global Force Wrestling. Now, he works for AEW as a talent.

While speaking to the Chase and Big Joe show, Jeff Jarrett was asked about working in AEW and being a talent working under Tony Khan.

“You know what? Before my dad passed away, I had been with AEW maybe a year. It mightn’t be quite that. But we had that conversation, and the reason I say that is it has been the first time in my entire life, for me personally, I wear the talent cap, and that is a real… lot of freedom, a lot of blessing, but no there is a an incredible entrepreneurial spirit and it comes from the very top, Tony Khan, son of Shad Khan but Tony grew up a wrestling fan, if we’re going to talk about this you know, Dixie, the very first live wrestling match she went to was TNA’s first show, if you really let that soak in That is the set point. Tony is a historian. He can tell you, I was on a plane ride with him, and I looked at him very sincerely. I said, ‘Tony, you remember more about Memphis TVs than I do.’ That’s the truth. But, you know, Tony knows not just Memphis TV, WCW, ECW. He is an in-depth historian, student of the game, if you will. I think we all go from wrestling fans and then you start studying it. Tony is an analytics guy. When you look at the Wembley success, the TBS TNT success, Globe Life Field Stadium, and the weekly grind, if you will, when you look at all that that we’ve done at AEW, you really have to go, no matter how you want to slice and dice it, you go right up to the top, and Tony has a vision, and that is the result, I believe, of a cumulative effect of understanding the product and understanding the business.”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Jarrett spoke about his creative decision to put Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe in the main event of TNA Unbreakable 2005. You can read more about that here.
