Je’Von Evans Discusses Executing RKO Spot With Randy Orton In WWE Royal Rumble, Says He Was Embarrassed After Their Attempt In NXT

After the attempt in NXT, Evans said he felt embarrassed.

It was in October 2024, when WWE’s NXT brand first began its run on The CW, that Randy Orton came to NXT and went one-on-one with Je’Von Evans.

The match was supposed to conclude with Evans springboarding off the top rope and Orton countering with an RKO. It did not go according to plan, and Orton finished Evans off with a traditional RKO.

They got to revisit that spot during the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble match and pulled it off. On Raw Recap, Evans touched on that and said the following:

“I was so messed up about that moment with me and Randy (Orton) — our first match. It took me actually a couple days to rewatch the match back, you feel me? Because I was just so embarrassed about it. But, sometimes we gotta show the fans that this is real. No matter what anybody says, no matter what we do, what we say, anything can happen. I can get hurt, I could mess up a move. Everything’s not gonna be perfect. But at the end of the day, we did it! … Sometimes you gotta take chances and see what happens and that’s what I did and mission accomplished.”

Evans spent the most time in the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble. To read his comments about that, head over to this link.
