The moment anyone leaves WWE, most fans begin to wonder if they will show up in AEW. Over the past couple of months, AEW has signed Matt Hardy and Brodie Lee following their respective WWE departures.
Following last Wednesday's WWE cutbacks, which included talent such as Rusev, Zack Ryder, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and more; fans are wondering who will eventually make their way to AEW Dynamite.
But if you ask Jim Ross, he's not concerned about who AEW hires right now.
"Sometimes, you have to let people go that you don't really believe deserve to be let go. That's the nature...it's not wrestling, this is life we're talking about. There's six million people on unemployment and we're all (in an) uproar about 30-40 people in the wrestling business that also got laid off," Ross told The Roman Show. "I sometimes wonder where the hell our heads are. We're living in the most tumultuous, unprecedented times ever. I get 'Who do you think they should hire?' I'm worried more right now about living for tomorrow. I'm at high risk for coronavirus. Do you think I'm real concerned about who is going to get hired tomorrow? If I was AEW, I wouldn't hire anybody tomorrow. There's no reason to hire anybody tomorrow. These talents that got laid off, I hope none of them get to a massive pity party. Come on. You think you're the only person in the wrestling business that's been taken out of your job? Give me a break. It's unfortunate. Some people, you wonder why they're let go. What about Rusev? He had this great push. Something came up there, that made the company not want to do business with Rusev. I don't know what it is. He's always been a nice kid to me. I think he's got a great upside and never reached his potential. All these guys have to reset."
Ross continued, saying that wrestlers need to make their brand better during the time away and that it's not the end of the world just because they were released by WWE.
