Owens/McMahon and Reigns/Cena were the last stories Jacobs worked on at WWE.
It is well-documented that Jimmy Jacobs was let go from WWE in 2017 after posting a photo of himself and BULLET CLUB members outside of the venue where Monday Night Raw was at. BULLET CLUB was there for their 'invasion' they were filming for Being The Elite.
Jacobs reflected on that time during his appearance on Café De René. He shared that the last two stories he worked on before being let go were Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon's program and Roman Reigns and John Cena's program.
The Reigns/Cena story wrapped at No Mercy 2017, and Jacobs shared that after the program, Reigns approached him and asked him to be his writer.
“I had a difficult time working for Vince (McMahon). I just wanted to be able to play… I didn’t get fired because I was bad at my job. The last two things I was working on -- on SmackDown, it was Kevin Owens versus Shane McMahon and on Raw, it was John Cena and Roman Reigns and after that John Cena/Roman Reigns story, Roman came up to me and wanted me to be his writer moving forward, and I’m not saying that to -- I didn’t get fired because I was bad at my job and there’s a part of me that kind of resented Vince for not seeing it maybe. He thought I was just a weirdo and I think the other people around me saw my value and kind of he didn’t and so I acted out like a child and I got fired and when I got fired, I was relieved.”
Hangman Adam Page, Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, and Marty Scurll were a part of the 'Raw Invasion' in September 2017.
That took place in Ontario, California, at the Toyota Arena, which was the host of AEW Dynamite's 300th episode. Hangman and The Young Bucks were a part of that episode.
