Jinder Mahal Says He Didn’t See His First WWE Release Coming

Jinder Mahal says he didn’t see his WWE release coming.
Mahal’s first stint in WWE lasted from 2010 to 2014. At that time, he hadn’t done anything significant in his career. Mahal, with the rest of 3MB, was working house shows mostly.
Speaking on Inside the Ropes, Jinder Mahal talked about the time he got released. He was busy working live events, and didn’t expect he’d be let go all of a sudden.
“No, I didn’t see it coming. At that time, I was on WWE live events my entire career in WWE. I have a packed calendar three months ahead of time. We get our calendar three months ahead of time. Just a rough draft. Things change, you get added, people get hurt, etc. Sometimes you get taken off. I got a full packed calendar. All of 3MB is on a packed calendar. We’re on every show and I get a call in the morning.”
Mahal initially thought the call was for a live event update, but then Mark Carrano gave him the news.
“I thought, okay, he’s calling me to tell me, ‘Hey, you’re now on the blue loop or you’re not needed for live events’ and he’s like, ‘Hey, I got some bad news for you. Creative doesn’t have anything for you right now. We have to release you.’ That’s a tough call, like your stomach sinks. At that point in my career, I hadn’t done much. 3MB was the best thing I had done, which felt like we had done nothing. So that was the phone call I got, and then I was on my own for two years.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Jinder Mahal also discussed the WeeLC match between Hornswoggle and El Torito at Extreme Rules 2014. Fans can read his comments here.
