Joe Alonzo Rants On The State Of The Business, Says He’s Sick Of Outsiders Taking Spots From People That Have Grinded For Years
Joe Alonzo speaks his mind.
In recent months, Alonzo has made headlines in the world of wrestling for his behavior in the Wrestling REVOLVER promotion. Specifically, a video of a backstage confrontation between Alonzo and BDE went viral, allowing fans to see Alonzo’s comments and harsh criticisms about BDE’s path to becoming a wrestler.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Alonzo laid out his feelings on the topic.
“So here’s where I’m just so frustrated with the business, people who have worked their ass off went to a wrestling school, grinded on the indies, make their way up. Now, it’s find a different avenue, whether it’s YouTube, whether it’s Vlog, whatever it is, something else that’s outside of wrestling, and then they bring it to wrestling, and then they get over, and then they take up the spots of guys who’ve been grinding for years. Oh, BDE, oh, I’m YouTuber, I’m going to react to videos. Here he is, taking everyone’s spots. I’m just sick of it. I’m sick of the old guys doing it, like their time is up. Shout out John Cena for walking away. Most guys can’t do that. Now I’m fighting for spots at different companies for guys who are just living in the past. It’s just like the greatest hits tour. Then guys like me who worked my ass off, we can’t get a job, right?”
Continuing on, Alonzo explained that he doesn’t have a personal problem with BDE.
“I don’t dislike anybody everyone has a problem with me. You will never hear me say a negative thing about—well, okay, not a negative thing. I say the truth and it comes off negative. I’m just speaking the truth. Like BDE, I don’t dislike BDE, the person—Brandon. I don’t hate him. I just hate what he stands for and what he represents as far as his avenue into the business. I don’t like that. But him, I have no personal issue with. But people have a personal problem with me and that’s the problem I have is because none of you know me at all. I feel like you were one of them. Then, too, you said I’m a good liar. I tell so much of the truth. You know how much heat I got into because of our interview right after my NWA stuff? ‘Oh, you buried the company.’ Billy didn’t like that one. Neither did Pat Kenny. Yeah, you got me tons of heat, brother.”
