Boston Celtics Coach Joe Mazzulla On WWE Raw Appearance: My Love Language Is Violence

Joe Mazzulla had a great time at Raw.
Mazzulla attended the March 23 episode of WWE Raw with one of his players, Derrick White. The appearance gained some attention on social media, especially as the Celtics prepare for their NBA Playoffs run.
Speaking with Pardon My Take for a new interview, Mazzulla noted that he would’ve took things further if it was the offseason.
“To me, everyone has a different love language. My love language is like violence. I’ve never felt more connected to Derrick. The only thing I regret was like, I almost flipped him over the wall into Michael Cole in the table. I thought we could have just sold it and took it further. If it was the offseason, I think we’d take that further.”
Continuing on, Mazzulla recalled being a fan while growing up.
“I was. That was a cool moment because my dad took me to the Providence Civic Center for Monday Night Nitro. I was like eight or nine years old. I cried the entire time because I was so scared sitting that close. It was different back then because I felt like it was more violent back then. Lex Luger was like four feet from me and I was like, ‘This guy is massive.’ It was a cool moment to take my kids there because my dad did that for me.”
To finish off the topic, the Rhode Island native talked about showing love to Derrick White by punching him on television.
“What I was doing to Derrick is the ultimate sign of love. I love that. If we could do that to each other more, I think we’d all be nicer.”
Boston will begin their first playoff series on Sunday, April 19. The will play either the Philadelphia 76ers or the Orlando Magic.
