Joey Janela: KJ Orso Has Wanted To Take His Mask Off For Years, I Could Definitely See Him In NXT
Joey Janela sees a big future for KJ Orso.
At Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 event in April, Fuego Del Sol lost to Atticus Cogar in a Career vs. Mask match. Just a month later, Del Sol reemerged on the scene as KJ Orso.
Since then, Orso has been on a tear, rebuilding his reputation in promotions like Wrestling REVOLVER, Naptown All Pro, and GCW.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Joey Janela said that Orso has wanted to take his mask off for years.
“He’s been trying to take off that mask for years because he hit me up years ago, still when he was doing shit with AEW. He was like, I want to come into GCW and I want to be myself. I wouldn’t doubt in the next two years he’ll have some kind of developmental deal.”
Janela went on to say that he could even see Orso in NXT at some point.
“He’s got a good run in him for sure. I could see [him definitely with] his promo skills, which are just through the roof right now and stuff. I could definitely see him in NXT without a shadow of a doubt. I could see him there. The thing is, I don’t know if he’ll be back at AEW because he told me recently that Tony came up to him and said, ‘Don’t take off your mask because I see value in you in the mask.’ He was like, ‘I don’t give a shit. I want to be me. I don’t want to wear the mask anymore. I want to do something different.’ He’s in GCW right now. GCW, through and through. Killing it. He’s doing great.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Janela commented on his relationship with Sabu’s family. Check out his full comments here.
