The bout came together over the weekend after Janela turned on X-Pac following GCW Welcome to Heartbreak after they defeated Matt Cardona and Brian Myers. The following night at GCW The Coldest Winter, Pac challenged Janela to the bout.

Joey Janela's Spring Break 6 is a two-night event set for March 31 (8 p.m. local time in Dallas), and April 2 (12:01 a.m. local time in Dallas) as part of GCW The Collective during WrestleMania weekend.
