John Cena On Becky Lynch: Her Attitude Is Something I Have Not Seen In The Ring For A Long Time

John Cena sees a little of himself inside Becky Lynch.

On Tuesday's episode of SmackDown Live, Cena returned to the blue brand for the first time in almost a year. A fired up Cena didn't wait for the usual interruption and instead called out anyone in the back who was ready to step up and meet him face-to-face. It wasn't a man who confronted Cena. It was The Man. Becky Lynch and Cena went back-and-forth on the microphone before they were interrupted by Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega. The interruption led to a mixed tag team match, which was won by Lynch and Cena. During the bout, Lynch tossed Cena from the ring, taking the victory for herself. Lynch hit Cena with the "You Can't See Me" gesture after the bout when Cena was looking for a handshake.

In an exclusive interview with WWE.com, Cena discussed Becky's attitude following their meeting and match on SmackDown.

"She believes that she's The Man. It's not a character. It's Becky Lynch," said Cena "That's something that I can relate to. When I stand tall in a WWE ring, people know they get the best of me. When Becky Lynch came out there, and not only staked her claim, but said 'Listen, if I have to go through you to get it, I'll get it done.' I looked into her eyes and I know she meant it. That's very rare. I hope the other WWE Superstars, regardless of gender, are paying attention to the attitude of Becky Lynch. Sometimes, you gotta announce your presence with authority."

Cena continued, "I know how tough it is to be overlooked. I know how tough it is to try to do your best every night and not get noticed. Finally, for something to happen inside of you to feel comfortable and confident. When you get that confidence, you feel like Superman. When I go out there, I tell everybody that this is the Superman outfit. It's good to see someone step up and come eyeball-to-eyeball with me and be like, 'Hey, if this is what we gotta do, we gotta do it.' I was honored to be on her team tonight because that's not an attitude I've seen in the ring for a long time."
