John Cena and AJ Styles meet one final time.

Over the years, AJ and Cena have met on several occasions following years of the two men being the faces of both TNA and WWE respectively for years prior. The pair would meet for the first time at Money In The Ban 2016, with Styles walking away with the victory, defeating him once again at SummerSlam that year. Cena would then defeat Styles for his 16th WWE World Championship at Royal Rumble 2017, and at WWE Crown Jewel Perth, they would face off for one last time.

Styles would enter first, wearing gear that would be familiar from his time in TNA, opting for shorts instead of tights for the first time in WWE. Both he and Cena would receive strong reactions from the Perth crowd, with Cena helping Stu the camera man shoot his entrance, handing Alicia Taylor a note during his introduction so Alicia could do a special one for Styles.

The opening bell would be met with a big reaction as the two men would lock up for the final time, with Cena hitting the first big blows of the match with a five knuckle shuffle and Attitude Adjustment combination for a near fall. Cena would continue to pay tribute to previous opponents in his career, hitting The Miz’s Skull Crushing Finale for another near fall. The pair would continue to trade finishes of legendary rivals, with Styles locking in the Coquina Clutch and hitting the Scorpion Death Drop, while Cena locked in the Accolade and Walls of Jericho before Styles hit his Styles Clash finish for a near fall.

In perhaps the homage with the biggest reaction of the night, Cena hit Styles with a Sister Abigail on Styles for another near fall of his own, bringing out the fireflies, with the homages continuing as Styles hit Christopher Daniels’ Angel’s Wings finish. Styles would counter a pedigree attempt into a Flux Capacitor in tribute to Frankie Kazarian, before Cena would meet him with an an apron draping DDT before an RKO from Cena, a move he has used in the past against Randy Orton himself. After a punt attempt, Styles would hit the AA himself. Styles would then go for a five knuckle shuffle, with Cena goozling him for a chokeslam for yet another near fall. Cena would attempt a 619, which would lead to a springboard 450 and Sweet Chin Music from Styles.

In the closing stages, Cena would catch Styles in midair, muscling him up for a Tombstone piledriver followed by one final Attitude Adjustment to score one final victory over AJ Styles in their final bout together.

Cena now has only four dates left in his retirement tour before walking away.
