John Cena kicked off the June 13 episode of WWE SmackDown, one of his last 19 appearances as a WWE Superstar, by reflecting on his accomplishments. He stated that in 25 years, he has cracked every code and solved every puzzle, and he is grateful that he no longer needs the audience.
Cody Rhodes was the first to interrupt him. He bragged about pinning John Cena at WWE Money in the Bank, throwing a wrench into John's master plan to ruin the wrestling industry. Randy Orton then returned to WWE, reminding John that he had beaten him at WWE Backlash, and said he would go through anyone, including Cody, to ensure he was the one to take the title from John.
Next was LA Knight, who expressed that he was fine with being the one to interrupt the established stars, outlining his plan to win the WWE King of the Ring tournament and eventually the WWE Championship from John Cena at WWE SummerSlam. John tried to leave his potential challengers in the ring to bicker among themselves. Still, there was one variable he did not account for: Ron Killings, also known as R-Truth, appeared behind John Cena on the rampway and attacked him until security pulled him off.
Truth returned to WWE at Money in the Bank, attacking John Cena and giving Cody Rhodes the open door to pin him.
