John Cena Posts Adam Copeland (Edge) Photo On His Instagram Following Copeland’s Tribute To Him At AEW All Out

John Cena acknowledges Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE, one of his greatest rivals, following a tribute Copeland paid Cena at AEW All Out 2025.

Nearly 20 years after the formation of their rivalry, John Cena and Edge are still active wrestlers. Today, Edge wrestles under his real name, Adam Copeland, in AEW. Cena, on the other hand, has only five more days as a WWE Superstar before he retires.

During his retirement tour, John Cena has done his best to pay tribute to the many rivals he has shared the ring with, specifically the ones he hasn’t actually been able to wrestle against on this final tour. He recently utilized a spear in a match with Sami Zayn to pay tribute to Edge.

Coupling returned the favor by hitting John Cena’s signature sequence of moves during a match with FTR at AEW All Out. The former Edge hit a Spinning Back Suplex, “Five Knuckle Shuffle” Fist Drop (complete with “You Can’t See Me” hand gesture), and an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall in a match where he and Christian Cage teamed up against Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. AEW never officially recognized John Cena on commentary, but the crowd in Toronto did.

Following this, Cena took to Instagram to post a photo of Edge. Not just any photo, either. Cena chose to post a picture of Edge coming to the ring at WWE Unforgiven 2006. On that night, Edge faced Cena in a TLC Match, capping off a chapter of their feud in Toronto.

In a perfect world, John Cena and Edge would have been able to renew their rivalry one more time. Copeland has admitted that the offer to face Cena was on the table when he returned to WWE in 2020, before he left in 2023. Learn more about that here.
