John Cena Says He Apologized For AJ Styles Custom Intro By Choice
AJ Styles clashed with John Cena at WWE Crown Jewel, renewing one of the greatest rivalries in Cena’s career.
Before the match, Cena handed a custom intro to Alicia Taylor to read for Styles that highlighted Styles’ career in NJPW, TNA, and more.
Cena later revealed he apologized for the intro as he felt he went into business for himself.
Speaking to Pat McAfee, Cena stated that it was his choice to apologize.
“The apology was by choice. I was forced by no one. It’s something I had to do. I didn’t feel right. Had I asked permission to do it, I more than likely would have been allowed. I’m always in search of a good explanation. If somebody says no and then gives me a good explanation, ‘Well, that’s no.’ If someone has a suggestion and gives me a good explanation, that’s fine,” he said.
While making the media rounds ahead of his last match, Cena called AJ the best to ever do it. You can find his full comments here.
Elsewhere during the interview with McAfee, Cena confirmed his match with Gunther will close the show on Saturday.
