John Cena Says Super Mario Parody Was His Favorite Shirt, Didn't Want WWE Selling Them After Limited Edition NFT Kits

Ahead of WWE SummerSlam 2021, WWE and John Cena released a limited edition NFT kit that featured a Super Mario-style shirt and more. The kits were priced at $1,000 and only 500 were available.

Cena previously stated that the venture was a "catastrophic failure" and that only 37 were sold.

While there aren't many Super Mario Cena shirts out there, Cena named the design as his favorite while speaking at the Philadelphia Fan Expo.

"My favorite one of all time is a very limited one. It's the Super Mario parody. I thought it would be great. We were going to run 500 shirts. We sold a championship belt, wristbands, an NFT, an autograph, and a commemorative book. The price point was way too high. I learned my lesson. We only sold like 15 shirts. It's like the rarest ever John Cena shirt. It's like serial numbered. WWE, after we ran the kit, they were like, 'It's a dope shirt, we should sell them all at regular price.' It's the one time I put my foot down and said, 'No, there are people out there that spent a lot of their resources and I want them to have a collectible.' It's the only shirt of mine I ever saved. I have serial number 000. I think that's the dopest shirt," said Cena.

Cena is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion.

He is set to face R-Truth at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
