John Cena To Star In Netflix Action-Comedy Directed By Jason Bateman

John Cena continues making plays.

The former 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena recently wrapped up another run with WWE which concluded during the January 14th edition of RAW on-which Cena took the pinfall in a #1 Contender match for a shot at Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Cena also announced himself for the Royal Rumble match but WWE sent out an update which read that Cena was injured. This was done so that John could go on to film a Netflix action-comedy movie.

The news was broken today by 'The Hollywood Reporter' that Cena will star in the untitled Jason Bateman directed project. Cena commented on the news and added that it is hard to keep things a secret these days and is excited to share the news with the world.

WWE published an article about the news and wrote the following about John Cena's latest venture:

John Cena is teaming up with Jason Bateman for a new film on Netflix.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Cena is set to star in the untitled action-comedy, which will be directed by Bateman. According to the report, the film will follow “a family that gets stuck in an old abandoned movie studio,” all as “the sets come to life and the family members find themselves stuck in various movies.”

Taking to Twitter, Cena expressed being “excited” to share the news.

The announcement comes on the heels of the breakout success of Paramount’s “Bumblebee.”
