John Cena: The State Of WWE Right Now Is Fantastic, There Has Never Been A Better Time To Be In WWE

John Cena has been on top of WWE for the better part of 23 years since he made his debut in 2002. WWE has undergone a variety of changes over the last two decades, with growth being a common theme.

Now, WWE is more visible than ever, with a multitude of sponsorship deals, media rights agreements, and superstar endorsements.

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Cena was asked about the current state of WWE.

“The state of the union [WWE] right now is fantastic. With relationships, we’re finally in the ESPN family of networks. There has never been a better time to be in the WWE. That’s from it’s relationships in the lens and the roster on the field. I think we have the most gifted and the biggest batch of gifted personnel in the ring. They’re doing stuff right now that I could never possibly think of, which is why it’s time for me to walk away. I still have a little bit left in the tank. I’m 48, I still look good and feel good, I have my health, but I’ve been here for 23 years and operating at a very high capacity and level. I really want to pave the way for the future and I’d rather go now and leave the memories with the audience of ‘he always gave his all,’ than risk doing bad work. I want to be invisible for a few more times, and that’s it. It’s been a great year and I’m very happy to pass the torch on what I think is an extremely capable class of men and women,” said Cena.

Cena is set to have his retirement match on December 13.
