Wrestlers Who Retired In 2025

2025 is coming to a close, and a number of high profile wrestlers, including John Cena and Bill Goldberg closed the chapter on their in-ring careers.

Below is a list of wrestlers who retired in 2025.

John Cena

Cena’s last match took place on December 13th at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cena tapped out to Gunther in the bout. During his final year, Cena turned heel, won the Undisputed WWE Championship for a record 17th time, turned back to babyface, and won the WWE Intercontinental Championship to become a WWE Grand Slam Champion. He is touted by WWE as the Greatest of All Time. Debuted in November 1999.

Christopher Daniels

Daniels lost to Hangman Page on January 16th (aired on January 18th) on AEW Collision. It was his only match of the year, but he has remained on television as a member of Sky Flight. Daniels is one of the most decorated independent wrestlers ever as a former TNA X-Division Champion, ROH Champion, and more. Debuted in April 1993.

Homicide

Homicide teamed with Bull James to defeat Afa Jr. & Mike Santana at Outlaw Wrestling End Of An Era on March 20th in his last match. Homicide is a former ROH Champion and one of the most influential wrestlers coming out of New York. Debuted in September 1997.

Bill Goldberg

Lost his last match to Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. It was his only match in 2025 and his first match since 2022. Goldberg is a former WWE and WCW World Champion. Debuted in June 1997.

Meiko Satomura

Teamed with Manami to defeat Aja Kong & Chihiro Hashimoto in her final match on April 29th. Then teamed with Kong for a five vs. two match against Chihiro Hashimoto, Mika Iwata, Senka Akatsuki, Takumi Iroha & YUNA that went to a time limit draw. A former World Of Stardom Champion, WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion, and Sendai Girls World Champion. Debuted in April 1995.

Sumie Sakai

Teamed with EVIL & SHO in a loss to Hiromu Takahashi, Mayu Iwatani & Yuka Sakazaki on January 11 at NJPW Battle in the Valley. It was her only match on the year. She is a former Queen Of The Ring Championship, ROH Women’s World Champion, and more. Debuted in May 1997.

The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley)

Lost their last match to The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) in a tables match at TNA Bound For Glory. Former TNA, IWGP, WWE, WCW, and ECW Tag Team Champions. Debuted as a team in April 1996.

Jake Hager

Retired in 2025, but wrestled his last match in November 2024. Former Lucha Underground Champion, ECW World Heavyweight Champion, and WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Debuted in September 2006.

Sonya Deville

Last wrestled in February 2025 against Natalya and later stated she was retired from wrestling. Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and Tough Enough competitor. Debuted in December 2015.
