John Silver Details Injury Suffered In AEW TNT Title Match, Had A Torn Labrum For A Year

John Silver challenged Darby Allin for the AEW TNT Championship on the March 24 episode of Dynamite.

Silver was not only unsuccessful in his quest to capture the TNT Title, but he also suffered a shoulder injury in the bout. Silver took to social media the following day to say he'll be out of action for four to six weeks, but that he didn't need surgery.

Speaking on The Angle Podcast, Silver discussed his match against Allin and detailed how the injury happened.

"I was happy with everything. I know a lot of people were watching and talking about it and a lot of people reached out to me randomly, from companies everywhere. People I don't talk to often were hitting me up and saying how much they liked the much or were rooting for me. It was cool to see how much people were invested. The match went well. Obviously, I hurt my shoulder during the match. I also bashed my head on the concrete. I had a huge knot on the back of my head. I hit my head, Alex (Reynolds) jumps over the railing and I'm like, 'Alex, I'm fucked.' I look over and the camera is right there. 'Ah shit, a camera.' I moved my arm. 'Ah, my shoulder is fucked.' It sucks to get hurt and now I have to take time off. I won't be away from TV, though," he said.

When asked how the injury occurred, Silver said, "It happened when I went over the guardrail. I landed on my left shoulder, but I hurt my right shoulder. I tried to post with my right and everything got stretched out. I got the MRI and it turns out I've had a torn labrum for a year. Once the inflammation goes down, I have to strengthen around the labrum and then I'll be back. My range of motion is already getting better. I'll be back sooner than I think. I'm already doing cardio."

Silver noted that he doesn't want to return too soon and get injured again, which is what happened with Anna Jay.

Jay is out six to twelve months with a shoulder injury and underwent surgery in March.
