John Skyler Says He Tried To Mimic Chris Jericho’s Career Path After Reading His First Book
John Skyler took plenty of advice from Chris Jericho’s book.
In the past, Skyler has talked about how he always doubted his ability to succeed in the world of professional wrestling, primarily due to his size. Things seemingly began to change for Skyler after he took some inspiration from Chris Jericho’s book.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, John Skyler explained the situation, saying that he chose to travel the world and pick up multiple tools for his tool belt in wrestling.
“Sure. When I first was thinking about becoming a pro wrestler, again, I’m a very undersized guy. I’m only 5’6″, 5’7″ on a good day and when I was thinking about training to wrestle, I was only a 160, 170 and I read Chris Jericho’s book, his very first book and he was also a guy that was undersized. One of the things that he really talked about was his goal was always to go to WWE, but he wanted to gain all this knowledge and information by traveling the world first before he got there, so he could have all these tools in his tool belt to kind of plug away and that’s kind of how I tried to pattern my career is now I’m in TNA and all the experience that I’ve had all over the world traveling, it’s only made me better. Right now the TNA locker room, you’ve probably heard a million people say this and I’ll be a million and one. It’s the greatest locker room in wrestling. No bad apples, everybody gets along and we’re all working to a common goal.”
Elsewhere in the interview, John Skyler explained how he came up with the Order 4 group name. Fans can check out his full comments by clicking here.
