John Skyler On Possibly Doing Commentary After Retirement: That’s Not Far-Fetched At All

John Skyler discusses a potential future in commentary.

Throughout his 15 year stint in the business, John Skyler has competed in 600+ matches across multiple promotions. Skyler currently resides with TNA Wrestling, the company that he has been with since 2021.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Skyler revealed that broadcasting was his goal before realizing that he could make it as an in-ring competitor.

“I actually minored in broadcast when I was in college at University of South Carolina. Broadcast was one of my first things, I was going to be you. I was going to be sitting here interviewing wrestlers. I always wanted to work in radio. That was initially my dream job was working in radio or being like doing commentary on pro wrestling, just from watching that as a kid. So that was really my goal was to use broadcasting as an avenue into wrestling somehow because I was too small or I thought I was too small at the time. Things have obviously changed.”

As he presumably winds down the back half of his career, Skyler noted that he’s open to pursuing a career in the world of broadcasting.

“Sure. Absolutely. If you if you watch TNA, you’ll see that there’s been times they’ve put me on commentary here and there to test the waters. So that’s not far-fetched at all.”
