At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4, Tommaso Ciampa retained the NXT Championship by defeating Johnny Gargano in a last man standing match despite Ciampa being shackled to part of the stage and taking a huge knee from Gargano.

During a media conference call following the event, Triple H revealed that Gargano injured himself at the end of the match which caused the plan for the match to take a slight detour.

"There's a lot of it that is planned, there's a lot of it that...it's live so...there's a saying in the business 'it's live so you can't screw it up.' You just have to go with it," said Triple H. "Clearly I wasn't planning on Gargano injuring himself in the last sequence. Did it play in to it? Yea. Technically that was suppose to go slightly different than it all did. We had to kind of make a call on the fly and change a few things," he continued.

Triple H went on to say that one good thing about the situation is that the fans in the arena didn't know the plan so changing it last minute does not affect them.  He also said Gargano seemed to have dislocated his knee but there's no news on the severity of the injury.
