Johnny Gargano Wins NXT Title At TakeOver: New York; Becomes First-Ever NXT Triple Crown Winner

Johnny Gargano finally did it.

After coming so close on multiple occasions, Johnny Gargano finally won the NXT Title at TakeOver: New York when he defeated Adam Cole, 2-1, in a 2-out-of-3 falls match. The victory is not only Gargano's first taste of being NXT Champion, he's now the most decorated superstar in NXT history, becoming the first-ever NXT Triple Crown Champion.

Six-Man Tag, Mixed Tag, X-Division Title Bout, More Announced For TNA Under Siege

Gargano fell behind in the match 0-1 after eating a Last Shot from the leader of the Undisputed ERA. Cole immediately tried to capitalize with another Last Shot, but Gargano kicked out. Gargano took the second fall, locking in the Gargano Escape and forcing a quick tap from Cole.

The third fall was a back-and-forth affair with Gargano surviving a Fairytale Ending on the announce table, a Panama Surprise, another Last Shot, and interference from the Undisputed ERA. Gargano eventually secured the victory and title with the Gargano Escape in the middle of the ring.

After the match, Gargano's wife Candice LeRae joined her husband in the ring for the celebration. Once they got to the top of the ramp, they were joined by a familiar face.
