Jordan Devlin Calls Rey Mysterio His Dream Match, Wants To Make Cruiserweight Division On Level Of WCW

Jordan Devlin has big goals for the NXT cruiserweight division. Devlin won the title at WWE Worlds Collide, winning a fatal four-way bout that included former champion Angel Garza, Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, and Travis Banks.

Devlin has since defended the title against former champion Lio Rush and has appeared on NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live to showcase himself and the division. Speaking to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Devlin revealed that he hopes to bring the cruiserweight division back to the glory days of WCW.

"I just want to make the Cruiserweight division mean as much as it did back when WCW was competing with WWE. When it was really groundbreaking, revolutionary wrestling. I want to have the most exciting matches on any brand, let alone NXT or NXT UK or 205 Live. I want this to be a company-wide thing, that if you see the Cruiserweight title being defended you know you’re going to get a high-level, exciting pro wrestling match," he said.

A pioneer of the cruiserweight division in WCW was Rey Mysterio, who helped popularize the luchador and cruiserweight style in America. And Devlin would be honored to face Mysterio at WrestleMania 36.

"In terms of just dream opponents to defend the title against, if I’m going to be making a request, I may as well see if Rey Mysterio wants to have a crack. See if he wants to regain the Cruiserweight title one more time."

As of now, Mysterio nor Devlin have an announced match for WrestleMania 36. Mysterio previously stated that he would put his mask on the line against Andrade's hair at the event. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
