Josh Alexander Says He Turned Down A Pitch To Wrestle For A Title At NXT Stand & Deliver

Josh Alexander talks about some NXT stories he was pitched for as a TNA wrestler and gives his thoughts on the working relationship between TNA Wrestling and WWE NXT.

Josh Alexander has left TNA and is currently working for AEW, but he was one of the top stars in TNA when they began a working relationship with WWE NXT. In the past, he said there was a time when he was supposed to go to NXT as part of the working relationship, but ultimately it didn't end up happening. Now, he's expanding on what those stories were.

During the interview with Shakiel Mahjouri, the former TNA Wrestling World Champion revealed that he'd heard rumblings of him potentially reuniting with his former tag team partner, Ethan Page, in NXT. He also says that there was an idea for him to challenge for a championship at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver.

"There were rumblings of two that I'd heard about after the fact that were denied by management for whatever political reason there was, them not wanting me to lose, or something like that. Then there was one offer on the table for me to do a big run, and then wrestle for the title on a pay-per-view or a Stand & Deliver, I think it was. I had actually turned that down because it just didn't fit with what my goals were coming into contract time and stuff like that. With negotiations coming up," he said.

Regarding his thoughts on the overall working relationship, Josh Alexander does believe it is mutually beneficial for both companies, saying that he saw more interest in the program after TNA talent would appear on WWE NXT. However, he does admit that when it comes to actual wins and losses on camera, the WWE talent usually gets the better end of the stick.

"I think, from my perspective, I can't speak for everybody in the locker room, at times, mutually beneficial, for sure. I mean, when you put somebody like Joe Hendry or anybody else on a Tuesday night NXT, and they come back to TNA, you obviously saw more interest come to the company because of that platform that they were on. But in terms of wins and losses and trading back and forth, it felt like it was pretty heavy towards the WWE end from time to time. But that's just the business portion of it. They have a bigger platform."
