Jun Akiyama Names Chris Jericho And Jon Moxley As Two AEW Wrestlers He'd Like To Face

Jun Akiyama would potentially want to face two former AEW World Champions.

Akiyama is one of the most renowned wrestlers in the Japanese wrestling scene; he had successful runs with All Japan Pro Wrestlin and Pro Wrestling NOAH, and he continues to shine in DDT Pro-Wrestling. Akiyama, a three-time GHC Heavyweight Champion, made his AEW debut on the November 18 episode of AEW Rampage, where he and Konosuke Takeshita defeated Eddie Kingston and Ortiz. Kingston then defeated Akiyama on the Zero Hour ahead of AEW Full Gear on November 19.

In an interview with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Akiyama was asked whether he'd like to return to AEW and if there's anyone he specifically wants to face. He named Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley as two potential opponents he'd like to step in the ring with. Akiyama pointed out that he has never faced Moxley before.

"I would like to play a match if given the chance. It’s Chris Jericho, who is in condition at the same age, and Moxley, who I have never played against before," Akiyama said.

Akiyama also noted that he would also like to have a rematch with Kingston or team up with him. Before they faced off, Kingston repeatedly expressed his respect for Akiyama and called the legend his dream opponent. When asked about these comments, Akiyama noted that he was happy to hear about the impact his wrestling had on Kingston's career. He also stated that he responded to that feeling by coming to AEW.

"I was happy to hear that Eddie saw our wrestling and became a professional wrestler with courage and hope. I wanted to respond to that feeling by fighting in AEW," Akiyama said.
