Karl Anderson Explains How He Got Heat In WWE Because Of Speed Match With Andrade El Idolo

A story from Karl Anderson.

During the latest recording of Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows’ Talk’n Shop podcast, Anderson recounted doing a WWE Speed match against Andrade El Idolo in 2024.

He shared that SmackDown General Manager and WWE producer Nick Aldis relayed to him that WWE wanted it to be the fastest match ever. Come match time, Anderson had Andrade put him away in 46 seconds. Anderson shared that he got heat for that. He went on to add that Andrade was never interested in doing the match.

Anderson: “Yeah, I got heat in WWE too because they told me they wanted to do Andrade (El Idolo) versus me and Andrade didn’t wanna do the match at all, and then me versus Andrade because he had to work on SmackDown, we had to do a Speed match and they said — Nick Aldis, true or not, I don’t know — but he goes, ‘They said they want this to be the fastest match ever.’ I said, ‘Great.’ I could tell Andrade did not wanna do it. I said, ‘Hit me and finish me,’ and one, two, three and I swear, I just felt like they were looking at me –“

Gallows: “Then they acted like you were a dick for it.”

Anderson: “I thought I was helping the situation.”

Neither The Good Brothers nor Andrade El Idolo are with WWE anymore. The Good Brothers are working independent dates and are featured in Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Andrade is signed to All Elite Wrestling, and he is also the current IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion in NJPW.
