Karl Anderson Recalls Telling Brodie Lee He Should Be World Champion After Taking A Chop

Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper in WWE) and Karl Anderson didn't share the ring often on television, but the two worked extended runs on the house show loop in WWE.

During their time in the ring together, Anderson realized just how good, and how generous, Lee was as an opponent and wrestler.

"Brodie put me in the corner. He went for a big chop and I said, 'Fuck, he's going to chop me.' He chopped me, but he slapped his leg. I sold it and fell down. As I was falling, I said, 'You should be world champion.' I thought he was going to chop me," Anderson recalled on Talk N Shop.

Doc Gallows recalled the program between Brodie and Anderson, saying, "There was a point where they were the tag team champions, but they weren't on TV. We weren't being used either and we were hated. We were in the popcorn match on house shows, but it'd be Karl vs. Brodie when Rowan got hurt. I'm the heater on the floor, but I'm the babyface."

Anderson would go on to say that it was tough working the "popcorn match" at WWE live events, which is the match after intermission. It was made tougher because WWE would have Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan open the live event.

"WWE popcorn after intermission is a guarantee [fart noise]," said Anderson.

The famed popcorn matches between Brodie and Anderson took place during live events in August and September of 2018.
