Mumbai will be the home of the next set of WWE tryouts.
Last month, the WWE unveiled a new Performance Center in London where talents from the United Kingdom can hone their skills under the WWE banner. NXT and NXT UK founder and senior producer Triple H has made it clear that he wants to expand WWE into countries and areas where wrestling has not been capitalized on in a major way. Two of those landing spots that Triple H has mentioned is Australia and India.
During an interview that Triple H did in January, he stated that he can say for certain that there will be a Performance Center in India. Kavita Devi, who is the first female wrestler of Indian descent to compete in WWE stated while speaking to 'Zee News' that she wants to see more Indian women wrestlers in the sports-entertainment company.
"We have been to Bombay, Delhi, Chandigarh and a lot of female wrestlers came for the tryouts. It was so heartening to see a few of them with their children as well,? says Kavita. ?I was selected through a tryout like this and I want to see more female wrestlers take up the sport and come to WWE and make our country proud."
WWE Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Ceman spoke with the outlet as well and further elaborated on WWE's plans to expand into India and what he admires about the talent in India.
?There is a combination of hunger and passion (among the hopefuls) for the WWE product,? Ceman says. ?Their willingness to work hard, to pursue their dreams is tremendous, and that comes from this culture. It is more obvious here than anywhere else. People realize that, if they want something, they have to work for it and they are not afraid to work.?
